BBC Radio 4 Appeal raises over £10,000!
In May, celebrity ambassador, Carrie Grant, appealed on BBC
Radio 4 for funds for our Personal Grants scheme. Inclusive of Gift Aid,
just over £10,000 was raised and a great deal of awareness too. We’d
like to say a huge thank you to all who donated and, of course, to
Carrie herself. The funds will make an incredible difference to the
lives of people like Nicola, whose grant for a washing machine has saved
her from having to hand wash sheets several times a week.
It’s not too late to donate! You can send a cheque to the
Fundraising Team (please write BBC Appeal on the back of the cheque and
on your envelope) or call the Team on 01727 734485 to donate by debit or
credit card.
Fancy that....
Crohn's and Colitis UK can offer you a place in any major
city marathon except London! You name a marathon we will see
if there are places still available.

Derek McEwan (centre)
and friends |
Catherine McEwan Ball
Now in its 7th year and the most important event in Glasgow's Social
Diary, boasting the cream of Glasgow's business community as guests and
patrons!
Organiser, Derek McEwan, has raised in excess of £100,000 in memory of
his mother, Catherine, who sadly lost her battle against Crohn's aged 38
when Derek and his brother were 16 & 21 years old. Derek, a successful
businessman in Glasgow, has from the onset of his business, AIMS, wanted
to include an affiliated charity and for him no other than Crohn's and
Colitis UK will do.
Derek wants to support people affected by Colitis & Crohn's and help
Crohn's and Colitis UK fund projects in Scotland.
Some of you might know that in conjunction with Yorkhill Children
Hospital, a family day was held in Glasgow's Science Centre in
September. The day was hugely enjoyed by over 200 children and their
families. Derek was delighted that some of the money raised through the
Catherine McEwan Ball was put to such good use in Glasgow. Derek told us
'nothing like that was available in Glasgow when my brother and I were
children'. One parent described the day as 'wonderful for parents
and children alike'.
The 2010 event will take place on 13th March at the Thistle Hotel,
Glasgow. For ticket information please contact
derek@serviceyourclients.com. The money that you raised from
this event in 2009 has been used to fund an away day for 60 teenagers
with Colitis and Crohn’s
Crohn's and Colitis UK Pyramid Boxes
Nearly £42,500 raised to date. Thank you one and
all!
We aim to increase our annual research fund from
£350,000 to £500,000
If each member raises £25 by placing their box in a
prominent place e.g. on your desk at work, your favourite pub or bar,
post office, shop or, if you are feeling brave, you could, as 8-year old
Katie did, leave it in your hall for generous visitors, you could help
us raise an amazing £725,000!
If you wish to fundraise in this way please contact to
request a box or boxes. The box opens out into a pyramid. Writing your
name and address in the space provided on the base will ensure that the
box is returned to you.
Please
send your cheques or postal orders made payable to Crohn's and Colitis
UK to: Crohn's and Colitis UK
(PYRAMID), 4 Beaumont House, Sutton Road, St Albans AL1 5HH
Nothing on our fundraising pages appeal to you? Why not organise
