New Parent to Parent Service

Parent Volunteers, parents with children who have Colitis or Crohn’s Disease, have been trained to talk with other parents in a similar situation. A telephone appointment can be made through the Information Service 0845 130 2233 to talk to a Parent Volunteer. Any parent with a child who is still at school or still under paediatric care can use this service.

NACC offers a wide range of services for people with IBD including an information service over the telephone, a confidential listening service called NACC-in-Contact, Personal Grants to help those on a low income that have a specific need arising from their IBD, Guidance on claiming Disability Living Allowance, Counsellors trained by NACC to help people with IBD and a support network for children with IBD and their parents.

NACC also provides a wide range of publications by way of books, booklets, information sheets and fact sheets. and information on other potentially helpful UK organisations and contact information for IBD organisations in other countries.

-NACC News - A copy of the national newsletter, NACC News, is sent every quarter to each member. It provides a forum for members to exchange ideas, practical suggestions and personal experiences. It also gives medical and practical information based on individual problems that members have experienced. There are regular features on new developments in treatments and other services relevant to people living with IBD.
Contributions for the newsletters - articles, letters, photographs, news - are always welcome. Please send them to the

-Booklets - Every member receives a pack of information when they join, which provides accurate medical information expressed in lay terms. The information includes booklets on:
     -Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease (as appropriate)
     -Living with IBD
     -Food and IBD
     -Other booklets available on request:
          - Drugs used in IBD, Investigations for IBD, Surgery for Crohn’s Disease
          - Surgery for Ulcerative Colitis

-Two booklets ("Living with IBD" and "Understanding Colitis and Crohn's Disease") written for newly-diagnosed patients and their families are now available to download in English, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu in pdf format, click here for details or here for these booklets in Welsh.
